Description:
When Jess Montell meets Trace West at a hockey game, she doesn't know his name or occupation. What she does know is there's an instant attraction that's impossible to ignore--or forget. And forgetting is exactly what she wants to do when she learns he's not just a successful Wall Street suit but the heir to one of New York's biggest Mafia families.
The last thing Trace needs is a romantic anything with law enforcement, and parole officer Jess has trouble written all over her. Too bad he likes trouble. Especially when it's a brunette bombshell with attitude and legs or days.
She's an absolute spitfire, and he wants to stoke that flame.
Trace didn't ask for the Mafia life. Jess doesn't want any part of it. They both know it's safer to stay away, but the temptation is too hard to resist--no matter how great the danger.
My Take:
This book was a random choice off Kindle Unlimited while I was scrolling. I don't regret picking it up to read. There are some minor editing problems that you find throughout the book in case that ends up being a problem for anyone. Otherwise this book isn't a bad choice at all.
It poses as that bad boy meets good girl and they change their lives. What really goes on is a rollercoaster of emotions and events. Trace is on the line between legal and illegal with his family while Jess is trying to be straight and narrow. They both have family drama that comes around to bite each time they turn around. Even with the whole world seeming against the two of them they still choose each other.
The author gives you a happy ever after in a way that isn't outright stated as so. If you want to keep that glow at the end of the book I wouldn't read the epilogue. It twists the ending in ways you can't imagine.
